5 Howick Place comprises over 143, 000 sq ft of commercial space and 23 luxury residential apartments. Dong Energy, one of Northern Europe’s leading energy groups, leased 85,000 sq ft at the site for its UK office headquarters, consolidating its previous two separate London Offices.
After initially completing pre acquisition surveys, we were appointed to provide a multi-disciplinary service during design and construction of Dong Energy’s fit out.
The scheme achieved a SKA ‘Gold’ rating – set out as a requirement by the client – and included a focus on materials and energy. A particular emphasis on energy meant that metered appliances and low energy lighting were included in the design, which assist in the management and reduction of running costs. In addition, at least 90% of construction and demolition waste was either recycled or diverted from landfill, sub-metering devices were installed to manage and monitor energy use, and materials & furniture with a low environmental impact (high recycled content and recyclable) were specified.
