This project formed part of NYSE Euronext’s strategy to upgrade and reinforce its data handling capability across the world and involved a series of major upgrades to its data centre in Essex, one of the largest standalone data centres in the UK.
The centre provides over 55,000 sq m of floor space over two floors and we designed major upgrades to both central cooling plant and data hall cooling along with improvements to both electricity supply / distribution and the UPS system. Utilising energy efficient plant with high resilience and availability we also made extensive use of simulation software for noise modelling, thermal analysis and CFD to inform the design strategy. The services are highly resilient, achieving Tier 4 rating and were also designed on a modular basis to allow expansion to an ultimate electrical and cooling capacity that will support 15,600kW of processing load.
