The Q22 Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy

Vertical transportation plays a critical role in how a building functions day to day. From passenger experience and accessibility to operational efficiency and asset value, lifts, escalators and associated systems have a direct impact on building performance and sustainability.
At Hilson Moran, we help developers, architects, asset owners and property managers deliver vertical transportation strategies that support both building performance and user experience. As independent consultants, we provide objective, evidence-based advice that balances capacity, efficiency, resilience and commercial considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
Our team brings experience across commercial offices, residential developments, mixed-use schemes, healthcare facilities, transport hubs, hotels, sports venues and heritage buildings. This breadth of experience enables us to develop solutions tailored to the unique demands of each project.
From early feasibility studies through to operation and modernisation, we use traffic analysis, passenger flow modelling and engineering expertise to inform critical decisions. By understanding how people, goods and services move through buildings, we help clients optimise movement, maximise usable space and avoid costly redesigns.
Traffic Analysis & Passenger Flow Modelling
Using advanced simulation software and recognised industry benchmarks, we model passenger movement to assess lift performance under a range of operating conditions. This evidence-based approach helps determine the appropriate number, size and configuration of lifts, reducing waiting times and supporting efficient movement throughout the building.
Refurbishment & Heritage Projects
Working within existing buildings often presents significant spatial, structural and operational constraints. We develop tailored vertical transportation solutions that improve accessibility, capacity and user experience while responding sensitively to architectural, heritage and planning requirements.
Modernisation & Lifecycle Planning
As building requirements evolve and equipment ages, we help clients develop practical modernisation strategies that improve reliability, performance and energy efficiency. Our advice supports informed investment decisions, extends asset life and ensures systems remain aligned with future operational needs.
Operational & Service Logistics
Effective vertical transportation extends beyond passenger movement. We help plan and coordinate the movement of goods, staff, servicing requirements and food and beverage operations, ensuring front-of-house and back-of-house functions operate efficiently while maintaining a seamless user experience.
Technical Advisory & Project Delivery
From feasibility studies and concept design through to procurement, installation and commissioning, we provide independent technical advice at every stage of the project lifecycle. Working closely with project teams, we ensure systems are appropriately specified, delivered and operated in line with project objectives.
Accessibility & Future Readiness
Inclusive design and long-term adaptability are fundamental considerations in every project. We advise on accessibility requirements, emerging technologies, destination control systems and future operational demands to ensure vertical transportation infrastructure continues to meet the needs of building owners and users over time.
1 Broadgate is a landmark commercial redevelopment in the heart of the City of London, designed to accommodate large occupier populations within a premium workplace environment. Hilson Moran developed the vertical transportation strategy for the building, designing an integrated system of passenger, goods, firefighting and evacuation lifts to support efficient, safe and intuitive people movement throughout the development. Detailed traffic analysis and simulation modelling informed lift capacities, speeds and quantities, while intelligent destination control technology was integrated with the building’s security systems to enhance user experience, reduce waiting times and optimise operational performance. The result is a high-performing vertical transportation solution that supports the demands of a modern, multi-tenanted commercial workplace.
