Hilson Moran featured in Channel 5 docu series on Super Skyscrapers

In case you missed it, Hilson Moran was recently featured in a new Channel 5, 2 part series called ‘World’s Tallest Skyscrapers: Beyond the Clouds’. Over the last 5 years, the number of giant buildings over 300m tall have doubled and are seen today are super skyscrapers – going beyond the vertical limits and creating space for work and play high up in the clouds.

As the presenter, engineer Rob Bell explains, ‘By 2050 75% of us will be living in overcrowded cities, so we are now building taller and faster than ever before’. As part of the journey behind the secrets of these tall structures, we find out what it takes to create these ambitious designs and turn them into reality. The series also covers designs of the future, those buildings that are truly pushing the boundaries in not only engineering but in design and technology too.

Making their debut on camera were Alan Cronin (Divisional Director of Vertical Transportation), Ben Abel (Head of Research and Development) & Vince Ugarow (Group Director, Mechanical). Giving not only their expertise on tall building buts also insights into what it takes to build tall buildings, from wellness, current trends in lifts and innovation in other cities.

The filming for this series took place earlier this year in one of our most iconic tallest buildings, the Sky Gardens, also known as the Walkie Talkie at 20 Fenchurch Street.

Although the series has already been aired on TV, you can still catch up on Channel 5 here.
