Senior Building Performance Consultant

We are seeking to employ a Senior Building Performance Consultant to be based in our London office.

The role

The primary objective of this role is to enhance our Sustainability & Building Physics capability within both London and Manchester. You will engage in projects spanning across the business, supported by senior staff, providing ample opportunities for personal and professional growth within the position. Emphasis will be placed on design development of projects from pre-planning stages to project completion, as well as on fostering the knowledge and technical proficiency of junior team members. 

Working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will design, analyse, and report to various internal and external stakeholders. You will work across a variety of sectors and will have the opportunity, over time, to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as we support the development of your professional skills. 

Key Responsibilities

The following list provides some key responsibilities, but the role is not limited to the list below:

Modelling

  • Building performance and passive design analysis, including, thermal comfort and façade optimisation. 
  • Operational energy assessment and optimisation. 
  • Knowledge of Design for Performance DfP NABERS UK modelling (systems modelling). 
  • Energy Performance Certification and BRUKL compliance modelling (Level 5 Low Carbon Energy Assessor). 
  • Undertake renewable and low zero carbon energy strategy assessments. 

Management & Support

  • Support the wider team with project delivery, including preparing statements such as Energy and Sustainability statements.
  • Support the MEP design consultants in delivering their design strategy.
  • Support the MEP design consultants with their approach to operational energy and targeting Paris Proof Energy Targets.
  • Manage own workload and contribute to resource planning. 

General

  • Produce accurate, professionally written reports and statements with excellent English, clearly communicating your work to clients and stakeholders. 
  • Make verbal presentations to clients and stakeholders on the work undertaken. 
  • Liaise with design stakeholders and clients to develop a design that is innovative and affordable. 
  • Contribute to internal and external design team meetings with the required level of technical understanding to enhance the environmental performance of an asset.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of BREEAM, WELL & LEED.
  • On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor. 
  • Parametric modelling analysis. 
  • Coding (Grasshopper Ladybug or similar). 
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). 
  • Ability to undertake research and evaluation of new technologies and processes. 
  • Working with the GLA Plan / Manchester Places for Everyone / Greater Cambridge Plan. 

Qualifications

  • Educated to Masters level (or equivalent) in Engineering or the Built Environment. 
  • Ideally you will have achieved or be working towards chartership status. 
  • A qualified Low Carbon Energy Assessor with Dynamic Simulation Modelling software such as IES VE or Tas.
