Hilson Moran’s Andy Russell has launched The Society of Public Health Engineers UAE region (SoPHE UAE) in Dubai. Last night an event was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre Club to celebrate the launch, which has been undertaken in collaboration with Simon Lewin (WSP) and Keith Perry (Polypipe Middle East),
“It was a great evening, attended mainly – as expected – by non-members, showing the great potential for the future of SoPHE in the UAE and for raising the profile of public health engineering in the region” says Russell. “We are looking forward to arranging many more events during the coming year.”
SoPHE aims to provide a higher profile and focus for public health engineers within Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), as well as within the building services industry. Along with regular technical meetings and networking opportunities, the Society provides speakers on public health engineering topics to CIBSE Regions, promoting the importance of best practice in public health engineering to other professional disciplines and to the public.
High on the agenda for the new region is a UAE Technical Group to produce technical bulletins, as well as training specifically tailored for UAE PHE design to improve the standard and consistency of PHE design across the region.
