Background & Qualifications:
- Degree in environmental science, geography, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Some experience working in consultancy is essential.
Skills:
- Proven experience in flood risk assessments, with supporting expertise in one or more of: flood modelling, drainage design/SuDS and supporting software, or Water Resources EIA chapters.
- Drainage Strategies and understand the implications of the new national Suds Standards / SAB suitable strategies when they become a requirement
- Drainage design using AutoCAD and hydraulic modelling, using industry-standard software (e.g. Causeway Flow/Infodrainage / Micro drainage, InfoWorks)
- Familiarity with any industry-standard geographical information systems (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo)
- Knowledge of the regulatory context for flood risk planning and sustainable drainage approvals in the UK.
- Lead Discussions / Negotiations with key stakeholders ( EA/ LLFA / Water Companies )
- Ability to understand, commission hydrological analysis and flood modelling to support projects
- Useful to understand the impact AI is going to have on the flood risk and drainage world.
- Strong track record in delivering planning support for major development projects.
- Familiarity with UK flood risk regulations and planning frameworks.
- Effective communicator with experience managing client, regulatory body and other stakeholder relationships.
- Project management experience, including budget and team oversight.
- Valid driving license
- Proficient in numerical tasks
- Utilise data visualisation, analysis and manipulation technologies such as GIS.
- Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written
