Senior Flood Risk Assessment Consultant

We are seeking to employ a Senior Flood Risk Assessment Consultant within our Infrastructure and Environment team in our award winning London office.

Hilson Moran is seeking an experienced consultant to lead and deliver flood risk assessment, drainage and water resource projects across the UK and internationally. We’re looking for dynamic individuals at Senior level to join our growing Sustainable Water Management team based in our London office. 

The role

In this leadership position, you’ll be at the forefront of managing and coordinating technically complex flood risk, drainage and water resource projects for a diverse client base. Your expertise will guide multidisciplinary teams and contribute to high-impact infrastructure developments. You’ll also collaborate across our water environment disciplines, including: 

  • Flood risk modelling and strategy development  
  • Sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS)  
  • Integrated flood management solutions  
  • Water resources and environmental impact assessments (EIAs)

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage client and regulatory body relationships, oversee technical quality, and ensure outputs meet regulatory and stakeholder expectations. 
  • Share your knowledge, support junior colleagues, and help build our technical capabilities. 
  • Contribute to service development and technical excellence across our water and environmental portfolio. 
  • Collaborate with senior colleagues to identify opportunities and craft winning proposals. 
  • Balance programme, budget, and quality while maintaining the highest health and safety standards.

Background & Qualifications:

  • Degree in environmental science, geography, engineering, or a related discipline. 
  • Some experience working in consultancy is essential.

 

 

 

 

 

Skills:

  • Proven experience in flood risk assessments, with supporting expertise in one or more of: flood modelling, drainage design/SuDS and supporting software, or Water Resources EIA chapters. 
  • Strong track record in delivering planning and permitting support for major infrastructure projects. 
  • Familiarity with UK flood risk regulations and planning frameworks. 
  • Effective communicator with experience managing client, regulatory body and other stakeholder relationships. 
  • Project management experience, including budget and team oversight. 
  • Valid driving license  
  • Proficient in numerical tasks  
  • Utilise data visualisation, analysis and manipulation technologies such as GIS. 
  • Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written
