Associate Acoustic Consultant

We are seeking to employ a Associate Acoustic Consultant to be based in our award winning London office.

Hilson Moran are interdisciplinary consultants, engineers and advisors, applying progressive design thinking to shape the environments we live in.  We provide a full range of engineering services, exciting innovation and design solutions on a wide range of projects from across our network of offices in the UK.  Our projects span the globe, from World Cup stadiums in the Middle East and landmarks in London, to luxury hotels in New York and development projects in India.

We are seeking to employ a proactive and enthusiastic Asscoiate Acoustic Consultant to join our expanding team in London. As an experienced professional who ideally holds professional accreditation or is actively pursuing it, you will bring an extensive portfolio demonstrating your expertise and capabilities.

You will deliver your design services within a diverse and challenging range of design projects. Your project range Will vary, demonstrating experience across a range of different scales, complexity, sectors, and geographies.

Our recently refurbished London office – the Living Lab – offers a direct link to clients, the ability to further develop our existing relationships and to pursue future opportunities across the city. We also have full view of some of our most iconic designs, including 20 Fenchurch Street ‘the Walkie Talkie’ and 30 St Mary’s Axe ‘The Gherkin’ from our river café space.

 

The role

As a Associate Acoustic Consultant, you will:

  • Lead acoustic input on major, high-profile projects, particularly within sports, commercial, and complex mixed-use developments.
  • Provide technical direction, ensuring quality and innovation across all deliverables.
  • Act as a technical manager within the team, developing best practice, standards, and new approaches to complex acoustic challenges.
  • Drive research and innovation projects to strengthen our technical offering and maintain our position at the forefront of the industry.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior and mid-level consultants.
  • Play a key role in business development and client relationship management.

Background & Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in building and environmental acoustics, ideally with exposure to stadia or large-scale complex projects.
  • A strong track record of delivering projects at senior level, with the confidence to advise clients and lead teams.
  • Passion for advancing the technical discipline, with interest in research, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, both within teams and externally.
  • An understanding of the needs and perspectives of other design disciplines and the ability to coordinate acoustic design.
  • Membership of the IOA or an equivalent professional body.

Skills:

  • Expertise in building acoustic design projects across a range of building sectors.
  • A good understanding and experience of groundborne vibration and its control.
  • Experience of environmental impact and planning noise and vibration assessments.
  • Familiarity with using specialist acoustic modelling software such as CadnaA, Ease, CATT and using AutoCad software.
