A seasonal message from our Managing Director, Tony Morris.
With the tide in our fight against COVID-19 continuing to ebb and flow across the course of 2021, it was encouraging to see the resilience of both our business and the wider construction industry – as well as huge milestones across many of our projects.
We saw the completion of Regent’s Crescent – a luxury residential development with a unique heritage – and the beginning of our work with Royal Mail to electrify their vehicle fleet, delivering a more sustainable Christmas to millions of homes in 2021.
We saw our projects recognised with key industry awards, including Southwark Park Pavilion (winner of the NLA’s Wellbeing award), and Arm’s worldwide headquarters in Cambridge picking up accolades from ArchDaily and FX Design.
We welcomed over 40 new starters across the business, strengthening our current interdisciplinary expertise and enhancing that expertise further with key appointments in Sustainability, SMART buildings and Transport. Together these are helping us to better support the needs of our clients.
We also look ahead to the FIFA World Cup 2022 with the completion of two of the stadiums we helped design in Qatar; Al Thumama and Stadium 974 – the world’s first fully demountable football stadium, constructed from 974 shipping containers.
COP26 placed an urgent global spotlight on the climate change emergency, demanding direct action from both industry and government and accelerating conversations around carbon and biodiversity.
Critically, time will tell whether agreements made at the summit will keep 1.5°C alive (see our State of Play analysis for insights from our sustainability experts). In the meantime we continue to provide our clients with coherent and practical sustainability advice, throughout the project lifecycle, and work with industry bodies like UKGBC to increase learning, drive conversation and champion innovative practice within the property industry.
As we look ahead to the new year, we are proud to continue our festive tradition of making a donation to a charitable organisation that aligns with our values of People, Places, Planet
In place of Christmas cards, we are delighted to support Renewable World, who envision a world where renewable energy is readily accessible to all, helping to end extreme poverty, improve lives and social mobility and mitigate climate change
They understand that clean, reliable energy is critical to education, water, health, agriculture and business; and since 2008 have reached 40,000 people with renewable energy technologies and services.
Please join us in our support of this brilliant organisation by donating online: renewable-world.org
Finally, we wish all our clients, stakeholders ,staff and their families a relaxing and fun festive period.
