PROJECTS Urban Regeneration

Royal Albert Docks

Docklands, London, UK

The Royal Albert Docks Masterplan situated in the heart of the Royal Docks Enterprise Zone, east of the City of London, is owned by the Greater London Authority and being developed by Advanced Business Parks (ABP). One of the largest urban regeneration schemes in the UK, the 35-acre site is set to be transformed into a mixed-use scheme comprising office, leisure, retail and ancillary residential buildings, with a gross external area of 3m sq ft, and includes two listed buildings – The Dock Manager’s Office and the Central Buffet at Custom House.

We explored a number of low to zero carbon technologies and solutions at the early stages of design, with the development set to achieve over 35% Carbon Dioxide (CO2) reduction beyond Part L. This has been achieved primarily through passive design measures, a central low carbon Energy Centre and PV panels at roof level. The scheme will be developed in 6 Phases over 10years , with Phase 1 now completed with Multiplex and awarded an BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. We have provided all the engineering, sustainability, acoustics, Fire, VT and Security services on the project.
