On Monday 27 January, the London Energy Transformation Initiative (LETI) launched Climate Emergency Design Guide. This piece of work is extremely important as it defines the approach, targets and benchmarks that developments in the UK need to achieve to reach Net Zero in operation.
All stakeholders from the building environment industry now have a reference point to define what their developments should achieve to ensure our climate change targets are met. LETI believes that by 2030 all new buildings will need to operate at Net Zero, and by 2025, 100% of the buildings we design need to be able to achieve net zero in operation.
The launch event proved to be extremely popular amongst developers, engineers, architects, planners, academics, sustainability professionals, contractors and other industry professionals. Hilson Moran proudly supported the event, with our colleagues having contributed to the publications. HM’s own Mirko Farnetani led the workstream on embodied carbon and circular economy.
Environmental issues are on top of agenda for our business and we are delighted that we play a part in shaping the tools the industry can use to make net zero carbon more achievable.
