The UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) has today announced four new task groups and a Steering Group which will support the development of the Net Zero Whole Life Carbon Roadmap for the Built Environment.
The Roadmap, announced in December, aims to develop a trajectory of carbon reduction targets and actions, covering the total lifecycle impact of the built environment in the UK, and secure the support of relevant industry stakeholders in delivering decarbonisation. The project is a co-owned process that brings together key stakeholders from across the built environment sector.
Mirko Farnetani, Principal Sustainability Consultant at Hilson Moran, joins the New Build task group. Speaking about the appointment, Mirko said: “I am thrilled to be part of the New Build – Commercial task group, where I can share my expertise and contribute to paving the way for Net Zero.
“It is essential to establish a common roadmap for the construction industry, in order to achieve the UK government’s 2050 zero carbon goals. Whole Life Net Zero Carbon can be a clear way forward, as it is imperative to address operational and embodied carbon in parallel.”
Mirko joins a number of experts across four task groups, who will work through the decarbonisation implications across sectors and develop a timeline of solutions. An industry-wide Steering Group has also been formed to oversee the Roadmap and provide strategic input throughout the process.
