Each month Hilson Moran profiles one of its staff in our news section. This month is the turn of Charlotte Weal, Team Administrator.
Name: Charlotte Weal
Role: Would it be wrong to say ‘help solve everyone’s problems’? If so, I work alongside the Engineers in my team assisting with admin requirements, Quality Assurance and other areas where possible.
Training: School of life
Joined HM: 2015
Favourite HM Project: Kings Cross Plot S, Building S1
Loves: Glitter, Christmas, the Queens; Liz and Beyonce, Spotify, thunder storms, crafting, photography and pizza (of course)!
Dislikes: Flying ants, arrogance, tardiness, raisins and dark chocolate (just why?)
My mornings all depend on whether or not I have to wash my hair or whether I should go to the gym. Failing at both tasks, I blast some cheesy pop music to wake me up at around 07:00, get ready, and jump on the tube to be at work for about 08:45.
I usually start my working day by having a quick gossip with my team and updating my whiteboard (which includes quotes, team news and a Christmas Countdown (yes, all year round)). I will then check my emails and to – do list to see what tasks I need to complete for that day.
I don’t really have a typical day as I am constantly doing different things but some of my regular items include creating specifications, reports and issuing project invoices, creating amazing Power Point presentations (if I do say so myself), enforcing and assisting with QA and HM Standards (which everyone loves me for….) and organising our team social events, the most recent included a pool night, games in the park and a pizza night).
Every few weeks we have a ‘Group Huddle’ within my team where we will discuss things like team news, holidays, socials, resource and, upcoming projects and deadlines, which helps me to allocate my time.
At lunch, I gather with my ‘likeminded’ colleagues from different teams at our lunch club. On rare occasions when the weather is nice, we go and sit outside by the Mayor’s Office and Tower Bridge where we enjoy the sun and a much needed screen break. There is also ‘The Scoop’ which provides food / drink pop ups and a Big Screen where they show the latest sports events, e.g. The Olympics, Wimbledon and the Cricket Word Cup.
Some days are busier than others especially when we have upcoming deadlines but the team morale is good and we work together to make sure we meet every deadline, and most importantly stay happy.
My day in the office finishes with a quick chat with my neighbours about work for the following day and our evening plans. I then head off home or to whatever plans I have for the night and look forward to the following day.
