Chris Birch joins the panel at ULI UK wellbeing report launch

Director of Sustainability Chris Birch will this week be joining the panel discussing the latest advancements in building design for commercial offices and in particular evaluating the rise in health and wellbeing investment across the industry.

The panel debate coincides with the launch of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI UK) aptly named “Picture of health: the growing role of wellbeing in commercial real estate investment decision-making” report focusing on the rise in demand for buildings designed to improve the health and wellbeing of its occupants whilst providing a viable and sustainable solution for building owners.

Chris will be sharing his experiences as the building services designers and end users of our WELL Certified Gold office in Bruntwood’s Neo Building, Manchester. also featured within the report as one of the five exemplar case studies demonstrating the range of different design approaches being adopted across the UK.

Chris will be joined by fellow industry experts, Rhiannon Laurie, Design Strategist at Gensler; Paul Chatwin, Associate at Cundal and Julia Butterworth, Associate Director, Energy, Infrastructure & Sustainability EMEA from Cushman & Wakefield.

Reflecting on the changes in the commercial offices sector, Chris commented

“Hilson Moran were early adopters of wellbeing design principles and the WELL building certification standard. It’s exciting to see the industry following suit and we’re now looking into where we can take design to the next level for our clients to replicate the positive results we’ve experienced on various commercial projects across the UK”.

“Going forward we are looking to apply these principles to other sectors such as housing, hotels and education incorporating new smart building technologies.”
