One of the key specialist design services that Hilson Moran provides is consultancy in building performance.
With half of the worlds total energy consumption and resulting harmful atmospheric carbon emissions arising from the use and operation of buildings, efficient building performance is one of the main energy policy target areas for UK and European markets. Demonstration of Building Performance is also an increasingly important part in the planning process.
Two key areas that require close examination on any project are how it measures up to current and future energy legislation and how it will respond to a warming climate. The design challenge is to develop schemes that minimise the use of energy consumption but at the same time cope with hotter summers resulting from 'Climate Change'.
To this end, Hilson Moran has assembled an industry leading team of specialist environmental engineers to form the 'Building Performance Group', dedicated to providing innovative solutions that respond to the challenge.
Using industry leading numerical environmental modelling tools the complex issues of building physics are analysed, providing the design team with a quantitative demonstration of building performance. The group has successfully applied these environmental design skills to well over 200 projects. |
