The increasing use of lightweight, long span or bespoke constructions brings with it the increased likelihood of disturbance and complaints due to vibration in buildings, whether due to an external source (e.g. underground trains) or internal activity (e.g. footfall).
This can be particularly apparent in office buildings, which are often located near to vibration-inducing transportation sources and within which vibration from frequent human traffic can affect the concentration of occupants.
Hilson Moran Acoustics uses precision grade equipment in conjunction with a complex software analysis suite in order to analyse vibration at any point within a building. This can be undertaken prior to construction – in order to predict vibration and associated noise in the completed development – or post-completion – as part of commissioning or trouble shooting.
In addition, working together with Hilson Moran Structural Engineering, effective, cost sensitive and site-specific vibration mitigation measures can be specified. |
