Acoustics is now a major consideration in all stages of new developments and is frequently a critical element of the planning process, as well as a significant indicator of the quality of a development.

Hilson Moran's Acoustics team consists of experienced consultants offering expert advice in all areas of noise and vibration.

The team is involved at all stages of new developments, for example:

During the planning application stage, demonstrating to Local Authorities that (a) a new development will not cause a nuisance to its surroundings or (b) that the site is acoustically suitable for the proposed use

After achieving planning permission, contributing to the design and construction of the development, and ensuring appropriate integration of acoustic considerations

On completion of the development, undertaking on-site measurements and testing to assess the acoustic quality of the build

Project teams of which we are a part can include many disciplines, hence we maintain a good appreciation of, and respect for, non-acoustic requirements.

The Hilson Moran Acoustics team recognises that noise and vibration are subjects that can be difficult to convey, therefore in many instances project-specific audio simulations and demonstrations are used. These allow the appreciation of acoustic elements of a future development, such as reverberation, acoustic privacy and noise masking, before construction has begun.

State-of-the-art equipment is used for the monitoring of noise and vibration in any location over any duration, from hand-held on-site measurements to long-term automated monitoring. Additionally, the use of proprietary modelling software, as well as bespoke, internally-developed programs, ensures accurate, well-communicated results and advice on all projects undertaken.

Hilson Moran is an Associate Member of the Association of Noise Consultants. All of our acoustic consultants are accredited to undertake pre-completion acoustic testing of new residential developments in accordance with the Building Regulations Approved Document E. Additionally, all consultants are members of the Institute of Acoustics.
