Hilson Moran designed the building services for the fit-out of the new Southampton headquarters of Carnival UK. Since its official opening at the end of July 2009, the state-of-the-art building has become home to more than 1,100 employees.
Providing a brand new landmark overlooking the port, Carnival House is an impressive 20,500sqm, glass-fronted scheme. Carnival UK is the parent company of some of the most famous names in shipping, including P&O Cruises, Cunard and Princess Cruises, which all have vessels docked at Southampton. The new corporate headquarters at Harbour Parade brings together staff from five separate offices across the city and reinforces Southampton’s position as northern Europe's premier cruising hub.
Hilson Moran was involved in the base build in a tenant monitoring role. The practice was also responsible for the mechanical, electrical and public health fit-out to meet the requirements of Carnival UK and architects HOK.
The building is completely open-plan to improve communications and allow employees to work more closely and effectively together. As well as providing a modern and comfortable environment for staff, the business operations of Carnival UK are supported by a standby generator and UPS power system.
